The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), an intergovernmental organization dedicated to supporting countries in their transition to sustainable energy futures, places a significant emphasis on renewable energy. Since 2018, IRENA has launched numerous initiatives to empower young individuals to actively participate in the renewable energy transition. This year, IRENA is excited to announce the IRENA Youth Logo Contest (the "Contest"), aimed at engaging and inspiring young talents across the globe to reimagine the IRENA Youth logo.
Contest Overview
Purpose
The IRENA Youth Logo Contest invites young creative minds to redesign the IRENA Youth logo. This contest not only seeks to harness the creativity and passion of young people towards sustainable energy but also to strengthen the bond between IRENA and the youth demographic. The contest is an open call to young individuals to bring their imaginative concepts to life, reflecting the core values of innovation, sustainability, youth empowerment, and inclusivity in the new logo design.

IRENA actively encourages youth involvement in the energy transition through various capacity-building initiatives focused on governance, education, and innovation. The IRENA Youth logo is a symbol of these efforts, and the contest aims to rejuvenate this symbol to better align with contemporary aesthetics and values, ensuring it resonates with today's youth.
Objectives
Design a New Logo: Create a logo that captures the essence of the IRENA Youth initiative while maintaining a connection with the main IRENA brand.
Engage Youth: Inspire and engage young people worldwide to contribute to the renewable energy narrative.
Showcase Creativity: Provide a platform for young designers to showcase their talents and vision for a sustainable future.
Target Audience
The contest targets young individuals aged 16-35 who are passionate about renewable energy and sustainability. Participants may enter the contest individually or in teams of up to two members.
Eligibility
- Participants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Each participant or team can submit up to three unique logo designs.
Intellectual Property Rights
By submitting a design, participants affirm that they are the sole authors of the logo and hold full and exclusive rights to grant IRENA the authorization to use it. The winning logo will become the exclusive property of IRENA, granting them unlimited worldwide rights to use, reproduce, and adjust the logo without any royalty or compensation to the authors.

- Contest Announcement: 20 May 2024
- Submission Deadline: 1 July 2024 – 23:59 GST
- Evaluation Period: 2 July – 15 October 2024
- Winner Announcement: 2025 IRENA Youth Forum, 9-14 January 2025
Recognition
The winning participant or team will be invited to attend the 2025 IRENA Youth Forum in Abu Dhabi. The winning logo will be launched at this event and featured on IRENA's website, social media channels, and promotional materials, giving the winner credit and recognition on a global platform.
