The scholarship is valued at 150,000 yen per month and is available for a maximum duration of two years.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Ajinomoto Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • International Student: Applicants must be international students, primarily from Asia, Africa, or South America, who have traveled to Japan with the intention of pursuing extensive studies and research in the specific field of food, nutrition, and health.

  • Enrollment: Applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a Master's or PhD program at a higher education institution in Japan.

  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and outstanding moral qualities, along with a genuine motivation for learning and a proven need for financial support.

  • Age: Applicants must be under 30 years old as of April 1, 2024.

  • Letter of Recommendation: Applicants must be able to provide a letter of recommendation from the dean of the graduate school or an academic supervisor (professor or lecturer).

Application Procedure

Interested applicants are required to follow a specific application procedure:

  1. Submission: Applicants must submit their application packets to the president of the Ajinomoto Association, exclusively via the Japanese higher education institution where they are registered.

  2. Admission: Ajinomoto Scholarships will be awarded to students who have already been accepted into a Japanese university to pursue postgraduate studies. Applicants must be admitted into a Master's or PhD program at the time of applying for this scholarship.
